Pastor Yaba Lucie Anongba

I was born on the Ivory Coast. I grew up there, went to school there, and started the ministry there as a lay speaker, youth leader, and Sunday school teacher from 2002 until 2011. I then moved to the USA when the Ivory Coast, my native country, was in a civil and political war. In the USA I lived in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madison. I am the mother of a seven-year-old daughter named Elizabeth. We pray, sing, and read the Bible together. Biking, running, and walking are our sports. From 2012 to 2017, I attended Madison Area Technical College where I learned English as a second language and received my Nursing Assistant certificate. In 2018, I transferred to Herzing University on the east side of Madison to start a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and worked as a nursing assistant while I was in school. In 2019 I was admitted to a Master of Divinity program at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary where I am taking my theology courses. I did my internship at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, becoming a certified, Licensed Local Pastor this past May. The Bishop of the United Methodist Church appointed me to Belleville/Brooklyn United Methodist churches. I hope to help young people to engage in the church through Bible studies and community activities, build connections with the young families, and learn and share faith stories. I hope to help the young families find their place in the church and work with the community in faith growth and in continuing their relationship with God. I am blessed to be part of the church family and friends of the Belleville and Brooklyn residents.
